Is there a child born in the late eighties who is not a bit of a Disney fan? Probably, but I certainly am. I was the perfect age growing up to be the ideal target audience for Beauty and the Beast, the Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Lion King.
Our house had a lot of Disney going on. I used to pretend to be Ariel in the bath and perfect that move where she pulls herself on to the rock and achieve that awesome splash whilst singing Part of your World. Poor Mum, had a lot of water to mop up afterwards!
At thirty I am a little too old for buying into the Disney merchandise now, (and don’t get me started on how overated I think Frozen is) but I am partial to the Disney Couture Jewellery range.
I have two necklaces from Disney that I have collected over the years. They are a sweet nostalgic nod to some of my most favourite childhood films and they are good as stand alone pieces of jewellery in their own right.
Oh and the packaging is scrumptious! Forget your classic Tiffany blue boxes, I am all about the lush purple Disney pouches!
My treasured necklaces are:
The Alice in Wonderland charm necklace. Look how cute is this. Inspired by the Mad Hatter this pendant comes with a button charm, a tiny pair of scissors and a small spool of thread. Oh and the button says “Made in Wonderland”. This is my oldest Disney Couture item but it may still by my favourite.
My second necklace is my Beauty and the Beast Red Rose necklace. Rob got me this for my Birthday and I love it. Very simple but also colourful, and it goes with everything.
I love how neither of these scream that they are Disney merchnadise but both have a romantic magical feel to them, and again, how beautiful is the packaging?
